The natural, pure, and clean ingredients in Mother & Child body butter make it suitable for babies’ sensitive and vulnerable skin. However, if you have any hesitations or uncertainties, it’s best to discuss this with your baby’s paediatrician or dermatologist. They will be the most qualified to address these concerns and provide the necessary explanations.

Body butters with essential oils – only after consulting with a specialist

As for the other varieties of OMMIA body butter, our formulations are aligned with the latest scientific research in the field, and we continuously monitor studies related to skincare products for expectant mothers to ensure our products are always free of parabens, additives, toxic compounds, fragrance, and alcohol. However, the presence of essential oils in their composition requires consultation with a specialist before incorporating the product into your body care routine. Although we use low concentrations well within established limits for essential oils, it’s advisable to have a prior discussion with a specialist.

It depends. Generally, we do not recommend using Ommia body butter that contains essential oils on the face because some essential oils can be irritating to facial skin, depending on their sensitivity. However, the percentage of essential oils used in our formulations is very low and always within official limits, following the independent usage guidelines for each type of essential oil and complying with the regulations for using oils in cosmetic formulations.

Another factor to consider is the Comedogenic Scale of Butters and Oils, a classification on a scale from 0 to 5 based on how likely they are to clog or block skin pores. A rating of 0 indicates oils that are unlikely to clog pores, while a rating of 5 indicates oils that are more likely to clog pores. For example, Sweet Almond Oil has a rating of 2, Carrot Seed Oil has a rating of 3-4, and Coconut Oil has a rating of 4 on the Comedogenic Scale of Butters and Oils.

In other words, while we recommend using your Ommia body butter only for the body and not the face if you do not have skin issues or oily skin on your face, you can try using the product on your face. We understand that we are all different, and our skin varies from person to person, so you can experiment to see if Ommia body butter suits your facial skincare routine. Of course, we recommend conducting a patch test on a small area of skin 24 hours before using the product.

The exception is our pure “Mother and Child” body butter, created specifically for pregnant women and babies. This can be used without worry on blemish-free facial skin for oil cleansing as the first step in your cleansing routine. Our recommendation is to follow it with a gentle facial toner.

Regarding babies, Ommia’s “Mother & Child” body butter is perfect for their sensitive skin. It contains simple and pure ingredients, melts easily, absorbs quickly, has no fragrance, and doesn’t contain any harmful compounds. However, we recommend using the butter only on their bodies and not on their extremely sensitive facial skin.

Body butters with essential oils are NOT recommended for both adult facial skin and baby skin.
